VUDA’s health arena with jogging track at the foothill of Kailasagiri is being readied with the first phase of the track measuring 1.25 km likely to be thrown open to the public by March. Work on adding amenities will continue.
During a visit on Wednesday, Vice-Chairman N. Yuvaraj directed officials to complete the work on part of the track by March. Track formation, drains on both sides of the track, separate tracks for cycling and jogging, lighting facilities and landscaping are almost nearing completion. A 200-m ‘barefoot’ jogging track is also being prepared for senior citizens, diabetics and women to enable them walk without footwear. It will have a smooth surface and shade. The Urban Forestry wing of VUDA is developing avenue plantation and landscaping and a median.
Landscaping and development in the rest of the area would be taken up after June.
At YSR Park
Dr. Yuvaraj, who visited YSR Park being developed on 20-acres of land in the Old Central Jail site, wanted the external jogging track there to be completed by March so that public could use it.
Laying of the internal track and construction of compound wall are underway.
At VUDA Park, the Vice-Chairman directed that greenery be improved and give priority to maintenance of other utilities like toilets and also take up repairs to children’s play equipment. Chief Engineer I. Viswanatha Rao and DFO B.V.A. Krishna Murthy accompanied the Vice-Chairman.
