Jana Sena activists took out a rally from Old Bus Stand to Sea Horse Junction on Saturday to express their solidarity with the agitating employees of the Dredging Corporation of India (DCI).
Led by Jana Sena district coordinators Siva Prasad, Satish Kumar and Dulam Gopi, the members described as totally unwarranted and part of conspiracy the decision of the NDA government to privatise the profit-making public sector unit.
They said Jana Sena founder and film actor Pawan Kalyan would visit the city sometime during this month, support the employees for their struggle and oppose the decision for strategic sale of government’s equity in the company.
The Jana Sena leaders said before bifurcation, all the developmental activities were concentrated in and around Hyderabad and after the division of the State, a few public sector units located in Visakhapatnam were being privatised. They said DCI had assets worth ₹5,000 crore and it was being sold for just ₹1,500 crore.
