Noted writer and senior citizen Angara Surya Rao will receive the ‘Jaladi Atmeeya Puraskaram’ on Sunday at Gurajada Kalakshetram at the monthly cultural programme ‘Vinoda Vallari’.
He will be honoured with a cash reward of Rs. 10,116 and a memento at the felicitation programme.
Film actor and writer Gollapudi Maruti Rao, Yarlagadda Lakshmi Prasad, Jaladi Vijaya, and EO of Sri Kanaka Mahalakshmi Temple Jyothi Madhavi will honour Mr. Surya Rao.
Mr. Surya Rao is known for his versatility of writing, literary criticisms, plays, and playlets. His writings were published in popular weekly and monthly magazines. He served as member of the A. P. Sahitya Academy, founder-member of Visakha Rachayitala Sangham, and secretary, Kavita Samithi.
His compilation of ‘Eight Dramas’ was adopted as a textbook by Osmania University for MA students in 1979. In the year 1978, he won the A. P. Sahitya Academy award for his play ‘Chandrasena’.
Members of the Creative Comedy Club and the Visakha Humor Club will present comedy skits at the Vinoda Vallari programme in the evening.
Artistes of Amrutha Kalanilayam will perform classical, folk, and western dances at the event.
