Jailed for rash driving

Third Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (full additional charge) A. Moses on Monday found driver of a four-wheeler guilty of causing death of a person by rash and negligent driving and sentenced him to rigorous imprisonment for one year with a fine of Rs. 500. The accused was sentenced under Sec. 304A of IPC.

According to prosecution submitted by Assistant Public Prosecutor M. Adinarayana, the accused Eeranki Durga Prasada Rao while reversing his four-wheeler in a rash and negligent manner at the IOC junction near Mahalakshmi theatre on July 18, 2010 caused the death of a passenger of an autorickshaw who had suffered head injuries. The auto driver also suffered injuries. The then Sub-Inspector of Malkapuram Police Station P. Pydipu Naidu investigated the case.
