PCC president and Transport Minister Botcha Satyanarayana on Saturday said the Chanchalguda Jail had been turned into the headquarters of the YSR Congress Party.

Apparently, Mr. Satyanarayana, who is having differences with Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy, used the platform he shared with Union Minister of State for Tourism K. Chiranjeevi at the launching of beach corridor project at Bheemunipatnam near here to fire the fresh salvo against the government.

He said unfortunately the central prison located at Chanchalguda had become the head office of YSR Congress Party after Kadapa MP Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy was lodged there.

He said Mr. Reddy was planning to loot the exchequer further by hoodwinking the people. “On the other hand, TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu took up a padayatra to save his party from getting wiped out,” he said.

In his characteristic style, he said Mr. Naidu named the padayatra as ‘Vastunaa Meekosam,’ but everyone knew that it was actually ‘Vastunaa Naakosam’ (coming for myself). He said out of sheer desperation Mr. Naidu made several promises to the people during his padayatra.

“When he failed to deliver the goods during his nine-year stint as the Chief Minister, how does he think that the people will trust his words now? He is totally discredited as a politician,” he said.

The PCC president said only the Congress under the leadership of its president Sonia Gandhi could take up revolutionary welfare schemes at the Centre and various States and asked the people to vote only the Congress in the elections whenever they were held.

Hinting that Mr. Chiranjeevi should be ready to take up the reins of the State as the Chief Minister, Endowment Minister C. Ramachandraiah said the megastar-turned-politician should be ready to take up a ‘bigger role’ in the State.

Without mentioning the Chief Minister’s post, Mr. Ramachandraiah said Mr. Chiranjeevi was a mass leader. Earlier, Mr. Satyanarayana in his address stated that the people should ‘bless’ Mr. Chiranjeevi.

Tourism Minister Vatti Vasant Kumar and Infrastructure Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao, Rajya Sabha member T. Subbarami Reddy, Government Whip Dronamraju Srinivas, MLAs M. Srinivasa Rao, T. Vijay Kumar, Malla Vijay Prasad, P. Ramesh Babu, U.V. Ramana Murthy Raju, Ch. Venkataramaiah, K. Kannababu, DCC president Karanam Dharmasri, DCCB president Sukumar Varma and vice-president S. Giribabu were present.
