Then head straight to Weaves - the exhibition-cum-sale of handlooms at Prahalad Kalyana Mandapam.
Weavers from all over the country have set up their stalls at the exhibition that is being organised by Revathi Creative Communications (P) Ltd.
On display are exquisite collections of fine varieties of cotton and silk handlooms. Bihar’s Bhagalpur tussar or kosa silk valued for its purity and texture are available in shades of gold pale, dark honey, tawny beige, creamy with a variety of natural motifs.
Wide range
The cotton fabrics made by Bastar tribesmen of Chhattisgarh are famous and attractive. Check out the elegance of Kantha tribal work in delicate and attractive colour schemes on kosa silk and the tussar sarees with temple jute borders. These surely would make a fashion statement in the festive occasion.
Also participating in the fair are Chanderi and Maheshwari silks and cottons of Madhya Pradesh.
The elegant colour schemes and the light weight of the saree make it appealing to the young and the old. Timeless elegant cottons of West Bengal like Tangails and rich Kantha stitch sarees come at reasonable price at the fair.
Apart from this, a whole range of dress materials and sarees like Gadwall, Dharmavaram, Pochampally, Mangalagiri, kalamkari and raw silks from AP, Orissa’s rich Bomkai and Sambalpuri, Rajasthan’s Bandhej, Kota and Dabu prints and Sanganeri prints and Tamil Nadu’s Chettinad and Coimbatore cottons and silks are also on display.
There are a colourful range of tops and dress materials from Delhi, Madhya Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir in the fair.
The exhibition will be on till October 14 from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
