Magician B.S. Reddy took the gathering to a world of illusion, while ventriloquist Bottaa Nageswara Rao gave some fun-filled moments to children through his ‘Donald Duck show’ at the ‘Sneha Milan’ organised by the Rajasthani Sanskritic Mandal (RSM) at the RSM Bhavan here on Sunday.
The event began with the Marwari community members greeting one another and exchanging pleasantries. Mr. Reddy presented among other things vanishing act, juggling, doves from photographs and the gravity-defying act, which kept the gathering on the edge of their seats. Mr. Nageswara Rao delighted the children with his mimicry, ventriloquism and jokes with Donald Duck.
RSM president Chandmal Agarwal and vice-president Danmal Parakh said that the objective of the programme organised on the first Sunday after Diwali was to provide a platform to the community members, spread at various places in the city, to meet and get to know each other.
“We have a tradition of meeting all elders and seek their blessings after Diwali. About half-a-century ago most of our community members used to stay at Old Town area and Poorna Market and it was easy for them to meet. Now, Rajasthani families are located at various places in the city and hence it was decided to hold the programme,” Mr. Chandmal said.
The programme was followed by a community feast with traditional food.
