The combined celebrations of Annual Day and valedictory of ‘APS Fest 2014’ drew a good number of students, parents, and teaching staff here on Saturday. Presenting a neat footwork, children of Alwardas Public School (APS) displayed a perfect blend of vigour and poise in their welcome dance, ‘A tribute to Lord Ganesh’.

More than 1,000 students took part in a string of competitions. The three-day carnival provided an avenue for the young ones to come together, interact and learn from one another. Speaking on the occasion, AU Registrar K. Rama Mohana Rao, who was chief guest, said: “Today, opportunities in any domain are plenty. Choose the right path and build your competency to reach greater heights.” School treasurer S.P. Ravindra emphasised the importance of improving one’s communication skills. Later, two Class XI students of APS — Darryl Chris Joseph and Serena Vardhan — who stood first in ‘Mr. and Ms. APS Fest’ contest, were honoured. Prizes were given away to winners of various competitions.
