ITIR: Why Seemandhra lost to Hyderabad, asks TD leader

Many projects promised by Centre for Visakhapatnam still in infancy, he says

September 22, 2013 02:24 pm | Updated June 02, 2016 02:12 pm IST - VISAKHAPATNAM:

The Central Government’s decision to establish a IT Investment Region in Hyderabad with an investment potential of Rs. 2.19 lakh crore once again showed that investment and development in Hyderbad is not lacking and also that Visakhapatnam in particular and Andhra and Rayalaseema are neglected once again, State vice-president of Telugu Desam Party Bandaru Satyanarayana Murthy said here on Saturday.

“When such huge investment is being made in Hyderabad which already witnessed massive investment, why should people of Andhra and Rayalaseema should give up their claim on the State capital”, Mr. Satyanarayana Murthy asked at a press conference.

While huge investments continue on Hyderabad not push was being given to Visakhapatnam where the IT sector is yet to take off in full measure.

Had a part of the investment in ITIR was allocated for Visakhapatnam the IT sector here would receive a tremendous boost, he said. He also pointed out that many projects promised by the Centre for the city, such as the Central University, HPCL’s petro hub, Railway Zone, six-lane road between Anakapalle and Anandapuram, etc., were still in infancy stage and the Central Ministers and MPs remained dormant. Congress president Sonia Gandhi does not bother about AP even though people of the State are responsible for the UPA to win Lok Sabha elections in 2004 and 2009. “It’s a shame on the part of leaders here that the projects failed to take off.

‘Understanding with TRS, YSRC’

Petro hubs were launched in Rajasthan and Kochi but not here in spite of large parcel of land being allotted for it”, the TD leader said.

The Congress has come to an understanding with the TRS in Telangana and YSR Congress in Seemandhra to win as many seats as possible in the 2014 elections. The CBI filing many charge sheets in the recent past was to fecilitate Jagan Mohan Reddy to secure bail and during the last two weeks his sister Sharmila stopped crtiticing Ms. Sonia Gandhi, the Prime Minister or Digvijaya Singh and only blaming the Congress, is an indication of the deal, Mr. Murthy said.

But she continued blaming TD president Chandrababu Naidu unnecessarily and targetting Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy so that in future she could claim that she criticised only him and the Congress but not Ms. Sonia Gandhi.

The former Minister said the Congress leadership was not bothered about its leaders from Seemandhra eventhough people of the region were determined that the state remained unified.

“Our leaders are roaming around the streets of Hyderabad after being denied any interviews by the high command. They should understand that they cannot postpone their resignations any more. Lagadipati Rajagopal after the heat he faced today (at Autonagar in Vijayawada) should resign immediately”, he added.
