IT has many benefits, says JNTU-K V-C

Prof. Allam Apparao, Vice-Chancellor, JNTU-K has described Information Technology as omnipresent and one cannot imagine the existence of mankind without it in the near future. He also maintained that it was a multi and inter-disciplinary subject and there were no limits for IT-enabled services in various departments.

Prof. Apparao delivered keynote address during inauguration of national conference on IT-enabled services organised by the computer science department of Adikavi Nannaya University on Friday here along with Prof. Beela Satyanarayana, Vice-Chancellor, Andhra University and also in-charge Vice-Chancellor of Adikavi Nannaya University.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Apparao said that computer science had merged with other disciplines and became information technology and IT-boosted economic growth in the country in different sectors. He said that banking was one such sector which used IT services to set the things in order along with other industries. He recalled that health and hygiene also became part and parcel of IT enabled services and agriculture advancement is also through IT only. He quoted that civilisation helped us to lead a happy life, and this would be doubled with IT.

Explaining the growth of computers, Prof. Beela Satyanarayana said that from analogue computers scientists developed digital, integrated computers with huge memory, retrieving capacity, manipulation and other features. He said that learn and earn was the motto nowadays and computer technology and IT enabled services were the key to success of any organisation.

Prof. K. Srinivasa Rao, Head of Statistical Department, Andhra University, said that even statisticians were playing a key role in IT enabled services.

120 papers

Prof. Suresh Varma, convener of the conference, said that they had invited and received 120 papers and out of which 72 were selected for presentation. Ms. Persis, co-convener said that the two-day conference will have 10 sessions and guest lectures by experts from Bank of America and IBM also would be there. Registrar N. Bhargava Ramamohana Rao presented the progress of the Adikavi Nannaya University from last four years.
