IT fraternity paints rosy picture

IT fraternity of the city is confident of realising its dream of making Vizag the IT capital of AP with the hope of getting a slew of incentives from the new governments at the Centre and in the State.

If the city can assure 15 per cent of Hyderabad’s turnover of Rs.64,000 crore, it is expected to generate two lakh direct and indirect jobs. Construction of two IT parks on the lines of Raheja IT Park with 25 lakh square foot each will change the landscape of the city throwing up plethora of opportunities to many.

According to Visakhapatnam IT Association, the city with a turnover of Rs.1600 crore, IT players like IBM, HSBC, Tech Mahindra, Wipro and WNS Global, international connectivity, home to several locally founded enterprises and over 100 IT/ITES companies, has tremendous potential to emerge IT capital of new AP.

Incentives promised under special category status, special package and multiple Special Economic Zones would provide a fast-track mode to attract more players in IT field, says VITA president Deepak Madala.

Naidu congratulated

Congratulating N. Chandrababu Naidu on becoming Chief Minister of AP, Mr. Madala has exuded confidence that their dream to develop the city further in IT and other fields is certain to materialise.

The city unlike other parts of AP has good brand value with several international schools, Andhra University, GITAM University, golf course, go-karting, equestrian club, picturesque beachfront, tourist spots, Buddhist sites and cosmopolitan culture.

“Construction of towers will not fetch us anything. What we need now is sanction of IT Investment Region, two world-class IT parks of international standards, uninterrupted power, tax holiday, hassle-free e-governance and reliable bandwidth,” says O. Naresh Kumar, vice-president of Vizag Development Council.

Highly appreciating the growth potential of Vizag, Nasscom vice-president Rajiv Vaishnav during a recent visit said the need of the hour was to shun tier-II mindset and make efforts to enhance brand value by showcasing the unique selling proposition of the city.
