As part of its first consignment of donation, Vizag Smiles, an NGO, distributed bags of clothes to the slum dwellers residing at Kancharapalem. Over 200 families received not just pairs of neatly washed and ironed clothes but sets of furniture, medical equipment, books and essential utilities.
After conducting a pre-distribution survey, the team has stepped up its donation process by assessing the needs of the neighbourhood a month in advance. Once the survey was done, the products were sorted, numbered and packed before catering heading to the neighbourhood for donation. An army of volunteers of the NGO including Kiran, Sheela, Vasu, Prasad, Harita, Chandrashekar, and Murali along with committee members P. Umesh and Atish Rastogi took part in the programme held on Sunday.
The donation process was coordinated by the US-based Raghu Pokala, founder of Vizag Smiles, through WhatsApp and digital medium. Volunteers of the organisation told the residents to avail the free pick up facility for donation by just dialling: 7306700700.
