Officials told to stay at their headquarters

Friday’s trough from South Madhya Maharastra to Comorin area across interior Karnataka and interior Tamil Nadu, now runs from Telangana to Comorin area across Rayalaseema and interior Tamil Nadu, extending up to 1.5 km above mean sea level.

Thunderstorm accompanied by squall is very likely to occur at isolated places in all the districts of coastal AP and Rayalaseema on Sunday and in all districts of coastal AP on Monday, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). Light to moderate rain or thundershowers is very likely to occur at isolated places in all districts of both coastal AP and Rayalaseema during the same period.

Isolated rain occurred over Rayalaseema and coastal AP. The chief amounts of rainfall (recorded in cm), during last 24 hours ending 8.30 a.m. on Saturday, are: Coastal AP: Udayagiri (Nellore) 5, Veligandla (Prakasam) 4 and Markapur (Prakasam) 3.

Rayalaseema: Kadapa 3, Proddutur (Kadapa) 3, Rajampet (Kadapa) 2, Pullampeta (Kadapa) 2, Nambulipulikunta (Anantapur) 2, Kuppam (Chittoor) 2 and Kamalapuram (Kadapa) 2.

Meanwhile, the Visakhapatnam district administration informed all tahsildars/RDO/line departments to stay at their respective headquarters till April 2 in view of the possible thunderstorm accompanied by gusty winds forecast by the IMD. They have been asked to monitor the situation and take necessary precautions.
