‘Irregularities' in Indiramma: survey

July 12, 2010 04:05 pm | Updated November 28, 2021 09:20 pm IST - VIZIANAGARAM:

Irregularities in the allotment of houses and settlement of bills under Indiramma programme have been detected in a joint survey conducted recently by CITU, Girijan Sangam, AIDWA, Rythu Sangam and other mass organisations in 100 panchayats in nine mandals, viz. Salur, Jiyyammavalasa, Parvathipuram, Bobbii, Komarada, Makkuva, Sitanagaram, S. Kota and Bondapalli in the district.

Survey in other mandals is still on. Releasing details of the survey, the copies of which were sent to Chief Minister K. Rosaiah for probe, M. Krishna Murty, CPI (M) district secretary, told a press conference on Sunday that the eligible had not received the benefit under the programme.

Congress leaders and Housing officials were colluded and resorted to irregularities. He said bills were paid for houses that were not built, in the name of deceased, not residing in villages and also bills drawn without the knowledge of beneficiaries.

Further, bridge loans were released to backward classes showing them as SC/STs, he said. He said that leaders of the mass organisations, Reddy Srirama Murty, M. Srinivasa Rao and M. Ayodhya would launch fast-unto-death at Salur from Monday demanding the government take suitable action.

Mr. Krishna Murty also demanded an explanation from Mr. Botcha Satyanarayana.
