Iran to cement academic ties with India

Iran is known for its socio-economic-political and cultural ideals. It is focusing on strengthening its educational ties with India and will soon sign a Memorandum of Understanding to further strengthen the relations, Hassan Nourian, Consul-General of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Hyderabad, has said. He was here on Friday to attend ‘Today of Iran’ celebrations, organised jointly by the local chapter of Iranian Students of Islamic Association, Consulate General of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Hyderabad, and Andhra University at Platinum Jubilee Guest House.

“It is a matter of pleasure to note that the relationship between India and Iran is based on mutual respect and honour. Keeping the friendly ties in view, we would like to encourage students of our country to study in India,” he said.

Photo expo

After inaugurating a photo exhibition, Senior Consul of Consulate General of Islamic Republic of Iran Ali Paryad presented a video on Islamic Revolution of Iran from 1979 and its progress till now.

Andhra University Vice-Chancellor G.S.N. Raju said that Iran and India have cultural similarities. “We are happy to see that Iranians are as hard working and disciplined as Indian students. It is one of the reasons that contribute to our friendly relations between the two countries. Going forward, we hope that more Iranian students would study here,” he said.

Additional DCP (Special Branch) Mohammed Khan appreciated the Iranian students for their discipline.

The event concluded with screening of two Iranian films.

Among others principal of AUCE (A) P.S. Avadhani, AU Rector E.A. Narayana and head of Iranian Students’ Islamic Association Shahed Mohammadi spoke. In the end, invitees were felicitated.
