Intricate jewellery on display

Art Karat‘s semi-precious jewellery is made in base metal silver with gold vermeil studded in precious and semi-precious stones.

Art Karat, a designer jewellery show, opened at Hotel Gateway on Wednesday. The collection has 700 pieces of jewellery on display. The exhibition is on till April 15.

Art Karat‘s semi-precious jewellery is made in base metal silver with gold vermeil studded in precious and semi-precious stones.

Art Karat Business Development Manager Vikas Gupta told reporters that the jewellery was a recreation of some of the finest designs made in Rajasthan and South Indian temple jewellery. Such jewellery is found in rarefied royal families or in museum collections. Art Karat is recreating the intricate designs for people who want to change their collection often and in the process also helping skilled, traditional craftsmen pursue the art of making intricate jewellery and is making it affordable to people.The collection covers the entire range of jewellery and includes bridal wear.

Mr. Gupta said the cost ranged from Rs.2,000 to Rs.1.5 lakh and 700 craftsmen created it.

Exchange

The jewellery can be exchanged after a year with some depreciation.

Mr. Gupta said Art Karat had 16 showrooms all over the country and has been conducting exhibition for 18 years in Andhra Pradesh and Visakhapatnam as well. He said Bollywood actor Juhi Chawla was brand ambassador of Art Karat and wore the range in the film Peheli. The jewellery also made its appearance in other films including Devdas, Monsoon Wedding, Kamasutra, Zubeida and the recent Yatra of Rekha.
