The ninth Inter-Departmental Sports Mela of Waltair Division began at the Railway Stadium on Tuesday evening.
Speaking on the occasion, Divisional Railway Manager Chandralekha Mukherjee called upon all the participants to promote the spirit of camaraderie with their colleagues from different departments through the medium of sports.
Sports Officer and Senior Divisional Commercial Manager M. Yelvender Yadav, Assistant Sports officer and Senior DEN Ch. Vishnu Murthy, East Coast Railway Shramik Union Divisional Coorindator PJJ Raju, Divisional Coordinator of East Coast Railway Shramik Congress T. Narasinga Rao, E Co R Sports Association general secretary B. Appanna Reddy were present.
There would be 11 events for men: football, volley ball, athletics, weight lifting, table tennis, kabbadi, shuttle badminton, ball badminton, chess, carom and cricket. The events for women employees include athletics, shuttle badminton, chess, carom, musical chair, lemon and spoon, hitting the wickets, speed walking and shot-put. Events would also be organised for physically challenged employees on May 9 and 10.
