An integrated cleanliness system – Clean Station – was commissioned by Divisional Railway Manager Chandralekha Mukherjee at Visakhapatnam Railway Station on Thursday.

The Railway Board has directed all Zonal Railways to invite tenders for engaging professional/reputed agencies for outsourcing of cleanliness at 50 major railway stations of ‘A 1’ and ‘A’ categories on Indian Railways. Visakhapatnam Junction is the first station in the Waltair Division to have an integrated cleanliness system.

The integrated contract covers the entire station i.e., the whole geographical area of the station covering tracks, platforms, all parts of the building, concourse, approach road and parking area. The scope of the cleanliness contract includes all areas and aspects of cleanliness like: cleaning of the entire station area including tracks, garbage collection, disinfection, pest and rodent control and segregation and disposal of wastes.
