Reaching out to the business administration and accounting aspirants beyond their curriculum and providing a platform to nurture their employability skills while pursuing their graduation, GITAM Institute of Management has partnered with the UK-based Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) for the second consecutive year.
With a decent number of students turned up for the course last year, BBA (Hons) plus CIMA integrated course focuses on catering to 10+2 students. The two-in-one programme is an amalgamation of business administration and accounting wherein the aspirants will gain an edge in both the streams.
Announcing this at a press conference here on Wednesday, Dean and Principal of GITAM Institute of Management K. Siva Rama Krishna said the objective was to bridge the gap between corporate requirements and human resources. “Today, due to lack of skill-sets, the corporate world feels that half of the candidates selected through campus interview do not meet industry demands. We have allied with CIMA to even out this particular inadequacy. With the integrated course attached to the BBA (Hons), aspirants need not go to separate coaching classes for chartered accountancy as CIMA aligns the core subjects with the main syllabus,” he said.
The professional qualification syllabus consists of four levels – entry, operational, management and strategic. “We emphasise on captive format of learning where the trained faculty will teach the students using unconventional applications like worksheets, case studies, computer-based activities and mock tests. With the syllabus being revised once in every five years, students will keep themselves updated with the changing times,” country-head of CIMA Debasish Biswas said. National head (academic relations) of CIMA Ayan Mahapatra and chairperson (admissions) of GITAM K.P.C. Kishan said the single domain associated with dual programmes guide the BBA aspirants.
