INS Sahyadri bags Best Ship Trophy

INS Sahyadri has been awarded the Best Ship Trophy and INS Ranjit and INS Karmuk adjudged the Most Spirited Ships, at the Fleet Evening 2015 – FLING.

The annual awards function of the Eastern Fleet to commemorate the accomplishments of the ‘Sword Arm’ of the Eastern Naval Command and recognise overall excellence and valuable contribution of individual ships and gallant men who maintained constant vigil in service to the Nation was held at the Naval Dockyard here on Saturday night.

Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Eastern Naval Command, Vice Admiral Satish Soni, was the chief guest at the event hosted by Flag Officer Commanding Eastern Fleet Rear Admiral Ajendra Bahadur Singh.

In all, 19 trophies representing varied dimensions of maritime operations were awarded to meritorious ships.

During the function, the Fleet Operations Officer presented the annual report of the activities and achievements of the Fleet over the past year.

The Fleet was deployed for numerous operations in the Indian Ocean Region and witnessed intense activities spanning the entire spectrum of Maritime Operations, including participation in TROPEX-15 on the West Coast, deployments in South China Sea, Western Pacific Ocean, Gulf of Aden, and South Indian Ocean.
