‘Improve health facilities in Agency'

August 22, 2011 12:46 pm | Updated 12:46 pm IST - VISAKHAPATNAM:

Stressing the need for implementable plans for girijan welfare, National ST Commission Chairman Rameshwar Oran called for primary health centres and sub-centres at walking distance in the agency area. If such facilities did not extent, proposals should be sent to the government.

Mr. Oran was reviewing the welfare and development programmes taken up for girijans at the Paderu ITDA on Sunday.

Medical officers should be appointed in PHCs and health volunteers should get honorarium on time. All malaria prevention steps should be taken.

The commission would review whether the welfare schemes meant for girijans were reaching them and whether their constitutional rights were ensured, and submit a report to the government.

Mr. Oran said funds from all departments must be contributed to the tribal sub-plan as mandated. Provision of protected water must get top priority.
