Importance of breastfeeding highlighted

An interactive session on various aspects of breastfeeding was organised for the Naval community by the Arogya Group of the Navy Wives Welfare Association (NWWA) and INHS Kalyani on Monday.

NWWA Eastern region president Nani Singh was the chief guest.

Addressing the participants, eminent paediatrician K. Radhakrishna briefed about the advantages of breastfeeding for babies such as better nutrition and protection against infection and allergies. Mothers would also benefit from faster uterine involution and protection from cancer.

Dr. Radhakrishna answered queries and dispelled myths about breastfeeding. Over 600 persons were benefited by the interaction.
