IIM team inspects AU facility

A nine-member team from IIM, led by IIM-Bangalore Director Sushil Vachani, visited Andhra Bank School of Business on Andhra University campus on Wednesday and finalised it for operating IIM-Visakhapatnam campus till its own one comes up at Gambheeram.

According to Andhra University Vice-Chancellor G.S.N. Raju, the Andhra Bank School of Business has a floor space of 20,000 sft and that the IIM team has expressed its satisfaction.

Coming to hostel accommodation, since IIM programmes are all residential, AU Registrar K. Rama Mohan Rao told The Hindu that AU had agreed to provide hostel accommodation for girl students.

“The IIM management will have to look for accommodation for boys outside. As far as girls are concerned, we will provide some accommodation,” he said.

According to the Registrar, the intake for IIM-V in the first year is said to be 75, if they run one section, and the university is in a position to provide accommodation for girls.

“When it comes to the second year, we shall take a call then,” said Prof. Rama Mohan Rao.
