IGNOU course for CA students

IGNOU in association with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) is offering a dual degree programme, B.Com. (accountancy and finance) exclusively for the students pursuing chartered accountancy. Those pursuing CA at the Foundation Level/ Intermediate Level or First Level are eligible for admission into this course.They have to do minimum prescribed courses/credits from IGNOU and they will get automatic credit transfer for the courses they completed from ICAI and they can complete the programme within minimum period, Regional Director of IGNOU S. Raja Rao informed on Tuesday.

“The programme is tailor made for the candidates preparing for the professions like Chartered Accountancy. They will get 64 credits exemption for the courses they do from ICAI as a part of their CA and have to do minimum courses of 32 credits from IGNOU. CPT qualified candidates can apply for this programme”, he said.

After successful completion of all credits of IGNOU and CA programme, students would be awarded B. Com (accountancy and finance) degree by IGNOU. This programme will facilitate CA candidates to get university B.Com degree after passing CA.

Prospectus for the course (Rs. 750) is available at IGNOU Regional Centre in Ushodaya Junction, MVP Colony here and in IGNOU Study Centres located in Visakhapatnam, Kakinada, Rajahmundry, Vizianagaram, Amalapuram, Etcherla (Srikakulam) and Rajam. All the Study Centres function on Sunday.

Interested candidate can visit Study Centres / Regional Centre for the prospectus and academic guidance, Dr. Raja Rao said. Admission is open with a late fee of Rs. 750 till August 17, and with a late fee of Rs. 300 till August 31. He also informed that the last date for receiving application for admission into IGNOU’s various PG, degree, PG diploma and diploma courses is August 17 without late fee and August 31 with a late fee of Rs. 300.
