Identify land for townships, Ganta tells VUDA

Asserting that the State government was according top priority to development of Visakhapatnam after Hyderabad, Minister for Infrastructure and Investment Ganta Srinivasa Rao has asked VUDA to identify land for satellite townships.

At a meeting with Vice-Chairman N. Yuvaraj and officials on Saturday, he appreciated the efforts of VUDA in developing the Kailasagiri jogging track, the YSR Park and Telugu culture and heritage centre atop Kailasagiri, among other things.

Emphasising the importance of taking up housing programmes for weaker sections and the middle class, Mr. Srinivasa Rao enquired about the status of Harita housing project, work on which had come to a halt, and the Row Housing at Rushikonda and sought explanation from the engineers concerned for the delay, according to an official release.

Dr. Yuvaraj told the Minister that introduction of online services was under consideration and plans were afoot to ensure transparent and timely services.

Government Whip Dronamraju Srinivasa Rao, Gajuwaka, Pendurti and Bhimili MLAs Ch. Venkatramaiah, Panchakarla Rameshbabu and Muttamsetty Srinivasa Rao raised issues related to the Master Plan roads and wanted VUDA to complete the projects it took up as early as possible.

VUDA secretary G.C. Kishore Kumar, Chief Engineer I. Viswanatha Rao and Chief Urban Planner R.J. Vidyullatha participated.
