Over 600 kg of ganja was seized in two separate raids in the district in the early hours of Friday. The total value of the ganja was estimated at Rs.40 lakh.
Kothakota SI S. Kumar and his team intercepted a vehicle going towards Narsipatnam at Marrivalasa. The police found over 550 kg of ganja in the vehicle. The drug peddlers left the vehicle behind and fled on seeing the police team.
In another incident, Rolugunta SI B. Krishna Rao arrested T. Eswara Rao (32) of B.B. Patnam and seized 50 kg of ganja from him, while he was making arrangements to transport the same to B.B. Patnam. The police registered cases under the Section 20 (B) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
