August 25, 2016 08:14 am | Updated 08:14 am IST - VISAKHAPATNAM:

Heavy Plates & Vessels Plant, a unit of BHEL, on Wednesday handed over joint process documents for pre-machined titanium alloy domes to Vikram Sarabhhai Space Centre (ISRO).

At a function held here HPVP General Manager J. Govindaswamy handed over the documents to VSSC Deputy Director P.V. Venkatakrishna. VSSC Group Director Bhanu Pant, BHEL GM (Operations) D. Asokan and others were present.

A BHEL note stated that HPVP was supplying titanium alloy elliptical domes to VSSC-Trivandrum. The domes form a critical part in Stage-4 propellant tank of Satellite Launching Vehicle PSLV. Concerted joint efforts of BHEL-HPVP and VSSC have resulted in successful processing of first batch of pre-machined titanium alloy elliptical domes. The tools and process technology developed at BHEL-HPVP yielded value addition and cost savings.
