The Visakh White Oil Terminal of HPCL has become the first location in the country to launch bio-diesel product for the own vehicles of the company, as part of its efforts to promote green initiative, on Friday.

The Ministry of Petroleum has recently given a directive to the oil companies to commence bio-diesel blending with High Speed Diesel (HSD).

The eco-friendly bio-diesel blending plant was inaugurated by District Collector N. Yuvaraj and General Manager (retail) of South Central Zone of HPCL G.S.V. Prasad.

Mr. Yuvraj said that bio-diesel had been talked about for a long time and expressed happiness that the initiative was started in Visakhapatnam by HPCL.

He said that he would advise all the government vehicles to use this fuel to start with and go ahead for all vehicles in future. HPCL Visakh Terminal also dedicated 20 acres of land at its premises for the green zone and planted 150 saplings on the occasion.

A blood donation camp was organised in association with the Rotary Blood Bank at the premises and 55 members donated blood.
