Sites for housing in some of the slums in Zone IV of the corporation have been identified.

Municipal Commissioner M.V. Satyanaryana visited Tarakaramanagar, Ramachandranagar, Dayanandnagar, Sivasankara Washermen Colony, Santoshimata Colony, Dharmanagar Colony and Kancharapalem Mettu on Wednesday. Residents urged him provide houses there only so that their livelihood would not be affected.

He asked officials to submit to him details of people living there in a sealed cover and also prepare proposals for taking up housing under public-private partnership or under the Rajiv Awas Yojana.

At Tarakaramanagar 1.1 acres of land has been identified, at Ramachandranagar 0.25 acres, Dayanandnagar 4.92 acres, Sivasankarnagar 0.85 acres, Dharmanagar 6.17 acres and at Kancharapalem Mettu 0.97 acres.

UCD Project Director M.N.A. Patrudu and Zone IV Commissioner J. Vijayalakshmi accompanied Mr. Satyanarayana.

85 per cent tax collected

The property tax collection for 2012-13 touched 85 per cent with Rs.143 of the Rs.170 crore realised by the end of the financial year.

Municipal Commissioner M.V. Satyanarayana congratulated Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) R. Somannarayana, revenue officers and tax collection staff for their efforts. An action plan should be prepared right from the beginning for better achievement in 2013-14, he said.

He gave away mementos to revenue officer D. Lakshmi and K. Appalaraju and D. Suryanaryana and revenue inspectors from various zones.

Mr. Somannaryaana said more attention would be paid to getting the revenue due to the corporation and a scientific approach would be followed.
