Home guards seek regularisation of services

Memorandum submitted to APJAC

Home guards have appealed to the State government to honour its election promise of 2014 to make their jobs permanent and to increase their salaries.

The home guards of Visakhapatnam district met here on Friday and along with AP Home Guards’ Sangham vice president Naidana Ramakrishna Yadav, they submitted memoranda to APJAC chairman G. Chandrasekhar and general secretary Raghuveer on the problems of home guards.

The other demands of home guards include implementation of equal pay for equal work in accordance with the guidelines of the Supreme Court, payment of ₹15 lakh as ex gratia to the dependants of home guards, who die while on duty, provision of health cover to the 15,000 home guards working in 13 districts of Andhra Pradesh, provision of pucca houses and promotion of home guards to the post of police constables.
