With the overwhelming response from the former students, Andhra University Evergreen Engineers and Vizag Seniors have come up with three summer camps this year.

Keeping its focus on nurturing the interests of slum dwellers, the free training programme caters to the students of GVMC Primary Schools located at Relli Veedhi and Peda Jalaripeta apart from ZP Primary School at Arilova.

With an expected participation of more than 300 students from Classes III to V, the organisers have invited 17 trainers to facilitate the free training programme.

From embroidery classes to stitching, glass painting to pot painting, folk dance to Annamayya keertanas, the camps are packed with a host of interesting sessions. S. Trinadha Rao of AU Evergreen Engineers said: “We are keen on involving former participants who have an exceptional talent in dance forms like Dhimsa. This kind of cultural exchange helps groom the fresh batch of students where the former participants have a chance of becoming future trainers.”

While the summer camp at GVMC Primary Schools, both at Relli Veedhi and Peda Jalaripeta, is scheduled from April 24 to June 8, the training period will begin from May 9 to June 8 at ZP Primary School.

Interestingly, the camp also includes those who belong to the respective slum areas. Further details on the programme can be had by contacting 9866024455.
