Heavy rain lashed some areas of the city on Sunday even as a low pressure area formed over northeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining northwest and east-central Bay of Bengal under the influence of an upper air cyclonic circulation. It extends up to 4.5 km above the mean sea level. The trough on sea level, running from Odisha to South Tamil Nadu across coastal A.P. persists.
Heavy to very heavy rain is very likely to occur at isolated places in the districts of Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam, East and West Godavari districts of coastal A.P. during the next three days, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
Strong surface winds from a westerly direction with speed reaching 45-50 kmph are likely along and off coastal Andhra Pradesh during the next 24 hours, ending 6 p.m. on Monday, according to the Cyclone Warning Centre here.
Fishermen have been asked to exercise caution while venturing into the sea.
