Sixty per cent of pregnant women in India are anaemic and fits are also common among them. This requires continued awareness campaign, gynaecologists said on the eve of the 47 annual Continuing Medical Education programme of Obstetric and Gynaecological Society of Visakhapatnam to be held on Saturday and Sunday.

The CME to be organised with the theme ‘Innovation to implementation’ would update the gynaecologists of the region the latest advances and treatment methods, said society president and HoD of Gynaecology in KGH and AMC K. Saradabai, vice-presidents — T. Radha and T. Padmavathi, and secretary P. Durgakumari at a press conference on Friday. Elected member of the society T. Nagamani was present. Director of Medical Education G. Shanta Rao would inaugurate the CME.
