The Sea Shore Apartment Owners’ Welfare Association has appealed to the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation authorities to act and stop the functioning of a restaurant in a part of parking area of the apartments.
Association joint secretary Roopsaran and secretary K. Sadashiv told reporters here on Wednesday that while any commercial activity could not be carried in the parking area as per law, the running of the restaurant exposed the residents to fire hazards and health problems.
After a long drawn out legal battle, the Andhra Pradesh High Court ordered cancellation of the trade licence issued by the corporation.
They alleged that in spite of the orders of the High Court and filing an affidavit stating that it would abide by its decision, no action had been taken so far and it had merely sent notices.
Mr. Saran said the GVMC had powers to seal the premises.
Ms. Pushpa Saran said residents had been facing problems owing to the presence of the restaurant and gathering of people there besides breathing problems.
