GVMC to revoke plan for apartment

October 11, 2011 12:08 pm | Updated 12:08 pm IST - VISAKHAPATNAM:

GVMC will revoke the building plan approval given for a multi-storied complex near Kali temple on the Beach Road. The decision came in the wake of observations made by the Lok Ayukta recently and a letter written by Principal Secretary, Revenue, to the District Collector.

Since the validity of regularisation of the land is in question and in view of the letter written by the District Collector to GVMC, the building plan can be revoked, Municipal Commissioner B. Ramanjaneyulu told reporters on Monday. Revoking the plan will bring construction to a halt. The regularisation of the land of about 5,600 sq m under Urban Land Ceiling Act has been kept in abeyance by the government following the Lok Ayukta observations. Mr. Ramanjaneyulu held a meeting with sanitation workers in the afternoon and they agreed to the proposal on weekly holidays.
