GVMC will press ahead with work on the 85 million litres per day (MLD) water treatment plant near Aganampudi to keep pace with the other related works going on.
While work on the pipeline, reservoir and distribution lines has been apace, work on the treatment plant has not even begun yet. The treatment plant forms part of the Rs.244 crore comprehensive drinking water scheme launched under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission for the 32 villages that have been merged in Visakhapatnam forming GVMC. During his visit to Division 57, Municipal Commissioner B. Ramanjaneyulu found no point in people objecting to the treatment plant.
No crop was being grown on the land.
The land was allotted by the district Collector and the Municipal Standing Counsel also foresaw no objections for the work. The Commissioner wanted the work to be taken up at once taking police assistance, if necessary.
He wanted the three industries at Aganampudi to lay approach roads to the villages nearby. A special drive should be taken up for animal birth control surgeries for stray dogs whose number was rather on the high side there.
While power should be provided to the 1,088 houses under JNNURM at Talarivanipalem paving way to shift beneficiaries, Mr. Ramanajaneyulu pulled up officials for allotting door numbers to shed erected in the area .
