The members of International Council for Local Environmental Initiatives (ICLEI) Core Team of GVMC – Additional Commissioner (Projects) K. Ramesh, Chief Medical Officer (Health) D. Abbulu, and HRD consultant and Coordinator of ICLEI project A. Rajendrakrishna- participated in the first Pilot Workshop on “Asian cities adapt - impacts of climate change in target cities in India and the Philippines,” organised by ICLEI at Kochi on Thursday. Delegations from Madurai and Howrah are also participating.

Kochi Mayor Tony Chammani during his welcome address invited the attention of all the members and called for their active involvement in the process of implementation of strategies for climate change. Howrah Mayor Mamata Jaiswal gave details of environmental conditions in Kolkata and the strategies implemented for combating the environmental pollution.

Mr. Ramesh explained the strategies initiated by GVMC for implementation of climate change adaptation in Visakhapatnam, and invited all the participants and partners of ICLEI, to the next workshop scheduled at Visakhapatnam during August 2011.
