Arrangements will be made for payment of taxes to GVMC through banks. Up to March, payments in banks can be made through challans. From April, the payments could be made online through debit and credit cards, Municipal Commissioner M.V. Satyanarayana said after a meeting with bankers at GVMC Old Council Hall on Friday.
BRTS tour
During the day, the Commissioner visited Simhachalam, Vepagunta, Appannapalem, Gosala, Ramakrishnapuram and from Kancharapalem to Gopalapatnam to take a look at the Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS) work. He inspected the site near Alpha Hotel where a foot-over bridge was proposed. A vacant site at Gopalapatnam should be allotted to parking or hawkers, he suggested.
Officials said of the 200 structures at Gopalapatnam, compensation was paid to 120 and for the others documentation was going on. At Baji Junction, compensation was paid to 18 persons while four cases were pending in court. Negotiations would be held with them. At 104 area, work would begin as permission was given for removal of compound wall of Sailors Married Accommodation, Executive Engineer Ravi said.
Negotiations
Chief City Planner Balakrishna said negotiations were going on with residents at Vepagunta, Appannapalem, Gosala and Ramakrishnapuram to pave the way for road expansion as a part of BRTS. Discussions were also going on with the Simhachalam Devasthanam. All along the BRTS corridor, 38 bus shelters were proposed, each at a cost of Rs.8 lakh, he said.
