The managements of educational institutions, software training institutes, religious organisations, owners of various firms and individuals have been warned against pasting of posters at various places like electric poles, medians, culverts, walls of government institutions and private properties without obtaining the required permission as per the provisions (Section 420 and 421) of HMC Act.
The defacing of walls, without obtaining the required permission from the authorities, concerned is against the provisions of AP Prevention of Disfigurement of Open Places and Prohibition of Obscene and Objectionable and Posters and Advertisements Act, 1997 and it would be viewed seriously under the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) limits, according to an official statement issued on Saturday.
Any person who contravenes the provisions of the Act would be liable for punishment with imprisonment, which may extend up to six months or with fine, which shall not be less than Rs.2,000 and may extend up to Rs.5,000 or with both.
All institutions and individuals have been warned not to paste posters, write on walls at public places without obtaining the required permission from the competent authority. The posters and publicity material would be removed and the police would be asked to register cases for recovery of penal amounts.
