The maiden Cabinet meeting of the N. Chandrababu Naidu ministry that took over the reins of the newly formed State scheduled to be held here has galvanised various government wings into action.

On its part, GVMC faces the task of sprucing up the city for the first major meeting of the new government. Though the venue has not been finalised yet, the municipal corporation intends to deck up 35 to 40 roads and take up repairs and painting wherever it is necessary.

Working in coordination with the Collector’s Office, it has already deputed an engineering official to supervise the related works there. The Chief Medical Officer (Health) has been asked to pool up all the sanitation workers to ensure that cleanliness is maintained. With the monsoon setting in and the possibility of rain, the need to clear major drains and prevent any possible water-logging has also acquired importance.

The venue (of the Cabinet meeting) also needs to be beautified and the Horticulture Wing of GVMC is assigned the task.

With the Cabinet members, the Chief Secretary, the Political Secretary (GAD), principal secretaries and a host of top officials expected to be in the city, which the government says will develop as an industrial and IT hub, the various infrastructure projects and improvement amenities mooted by GVMC in its City Development Plan may also come up for review.

Municipal Commissioner M.V. Satyanarayana and Additional Commissioner M. Janaki had a meeting on Monday morning and later another one with officials.
