The GVMC on Wednesday conducted the first-of-its-kind Property Tax Adalat at Swarna Bharati Auditorium.
The adalat was meant to address problems faced by ex-servicemen, revision petitions, and change of title deeds.
The adalat was conducted in view of several complaints relating to property tax. It was mainly aimed at taking up issues relating to exemptions to ex-servicemen, applications pending for revision of property tax, and change of title deeds, Municipal Commissioner M.V. Satyanarayana said. He said in another two weeks orders would be given to eligible applicants by organising another programme. In future too, depending upon the situation, property adalat would be conducted every three or six months, the Commissioner said.
He complimented Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) R. Somannarayana, zone commissioners, and others for setting up help centre, counters zone-wise and separately for various categories and for new applicants.
The applicants expressed happiness at the initiative to solve their problems, some which had been pending for nearly two years.
Of the 393 applications, 161 were submitted by ex-servicemen, 193 for revision of tax, 29 for change of title, and 10 for others such as some correction.
Zone commissioners A. Srinivas, N. Sivaji, B. Sanyasi Naidu, and J. Vijayalakshmi, and Director (Sports) Y. Srinivasa Rao supervised the arrangements.
