With an aim to nurture creativity and encourage the innovative spirit of engineering students, the Institutution of Engineers (India) is funding projects of students at the bachelor’s level. The IEI has allocated Rs. 60 crore for funding research. Of this, Rs. 50 crore is for students doing their graduation in engineering. The selected project will be extended a grant-in-aid of Rs.50,000. Students have to apply online through their college, member, IEI National Council, K. Venkatasubbaiah, has said.

“Presently, funding is available for research scholars and students doing post-graduation. The innovative projects of graduate level students are being ignored and they are being stifled for lack of funding,” chairman of the Visakhapatnam Local Centre M. Purnachandra Rao said. The IEI VLC organised a day-long workshop on ‘Lean Manufacturing’ on Sunday.
