Twenty-five cooks from Odisha were brought to serve ‘mahaprasad’ of Lord Jagannath to nearly 12,000 people at Ukkunagaram, the township of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant, on Tuesday.

As part of ‘Samaradhana’ (community feast), Utkalika Cultural Association, which organised the annual Rath Yatra, organised a grand feast at Gurajada Kalakshetram. This is an annual event being organised every year since 2003 to mark culmination of the chariot festival at the Jagannath temple complex built in Sector-9.

Various traditional Odia dishes were prepared with help rendered by women members from early hours. There were total 12 counters.

People from not only the township but also from Anakapalle, Aganampudi, Gantyada, Vadlapudi, Kurmannapalem and nearby areas participated. “Many feel blessed to relish the bhog served after offering to the Lord,” Utkalika Cultural Association secretary A.P. Sahu said.
