‘Telugu Desam did not bother about farmers during its rule’
The Congress governments at the Centre and State have taken many important decisions regarding cooperative sector and many institutions are making profits, Minister for R and B and district Minister in-charge Dharmana Prasada Rao said here on Friday, while participating in the swearing in ceremony of the new president, and directors of the District Cooperative Central Bank.
Telugu Desam did not bother about farmers during its rule and started selling away the cooperative institutions, but thanks to the Congress winning the 2004 elections, the cooperative sector had been revived. “Though many important decision have been taken and successfully implemented for the farmer’s welfare, they did not get due recognition because farming is not giving profits for the farmer,” he said. The Minister listed many schemes and programmes being implemented for farmers in the State.
Mr. Prasada Rao appreciated the new and young president of DCCB U. Sukumara Varma for declaring that all directors and members were equal after the elections, and benefits would be distributed equally.
Minister for Investments and Infrastructure Ganta Srinivasa Rao said the thumping win the Congress supporters scored in the DCCB elections here and many other districts showed that the farmers believed in the party. The result should inspire the party men to work hard and win the ensuing elections till 2014 Assembly and Parliament elections, he said. The same view was also expressed by Elamanchili MLA and father of DCCB president U.V. Ramana Murthy Raju (Kannababu) who said the immediate target was the ZPP elections, and he was sure the party would win at least 30 out of 39 ZPTCs. Bheemunipatnam MLA M. Srinivasa Rao too wanted the party men to help the party continue the wining streak.
Mr. Sukumara Varma assured that the farmers’ issues would be taken care of and considered the victory for him and other directors as a responsibility. Government Whip Dronamraju Srinivasa Rao, MLC D.V. Suryanarayana Raju, MLA Ch. Venkatramiah, CEO of DCCB P. Siva Narayana, General Manager P. Appa Rao, vice-president of DCCB Sunkari Giribabu and six other directors, president of DCMS Mukka Mahalakshmi Naidu, vice-president Ayinampudi Bangarraju, and DCMS directors were present.
