State Government employees, teachers and workers went on a day’s mass casual leave on Wednesday and took out a rally in the city demanding a better deal in the ninth Pay Revision Commission’s recommendations.
The protest programme was organised by the Joint Action Committee of the employees, teachers and workers and was part of the State-wide agitation.
This was the second phase of the agitation and the JAC was planning a Chalo Hyderabad programme on Jan.22 and would launch an indefinite strike if their demands were not met.
The JAC was seeking 61 per cent fitment, higher medical reimbursement, health cards without employee’s contribution, more HRA and allowance for those working in the Agency area, regularisation of outsourced posts, better increments and other benefits. The PRC recommendations were much less than what the JAC has been demanding since the PRC was constituted, president and secretary of district unit of AP NGOs’ Association J. Butchilingam and K. Eswara Rao said.
After going on mass casual leave, the JAC leaders and others gathered at the NGOs’ Home near the Collectorate here and took out a big rally.
