A large number of government employees, workers and teachers staged a dharna in front of the Collectorate here on Tuesday as part of the State wide agitation by the Joint Action Committee of employees, workers, teachers and pensioners demanding that the government concede its charter of demands. Relay hunger strike commenced and a good number of employees participated. Convenor of district JAC and president of district branch of APNGOs Association K. Eswara Rao criticised the government for not constituting the 10th Pay Revision Commission event after the employees were demanding for the same since February.

Employees would lose their benefits if the PRC was not constituted in time. Any attempt to remove employees would be resisted, he said.

A State-wide strike would be launched if the Government failed to concede the demands of JAC, he said.

The JAC’s demands include issue of health insurance card to all employees, withdrawal of new pension scheme, regularisation of fulltime, part time, contingency and contract employees, and filling up all vacancies.JAC secretary T. Gopalakrishna, president of city unit of APNGOs’ Association K.V. Venkateswara Rao, secretary V.V.V.R.V. Satyanarayana, and State vice-president A. Nageswara Reddy spoke.
