The Dial Your Collector programme, initiated by Collector V. Seshadri received good response when it commenced in Visakhapatnam on Monday with several persons from different parts of the district calling him to explain their problems and seek redressal.

The district officials were present during the programme held from 9.30 a.m. to 10.30 a.m. and Mr. Seshadri assured the callers that their problems were being noted down and would be examined and necessary steps taken. On some occasions he verified with the district official concerned and issued instructions on the problem.

The first call was from a retired Tahsildar Sambasiva Rao who sought a control on the spiralling prices of commodities. The callers complained about removal of milk booths and disconnection of power supply; land grabbing by VRO of Gambhiram; non issue of NOC; cancellation of pension to a physically challenged woman; delay in completing laying of a road in Kurmannapalem; erection of a mobile tower in Simhachalam area without permission; establishment of a bar in Jodugullapalem after encroaching a government site; encroachment of high school site and banjar land at Vajragada; encroachment of Singayya tank at Asakapalli in Sabbavaram mandal and request to construct compound wall around the Government College at Parawada; request to construct building for the Chodavaram Government College; issue of pattadar passbooks, etc.

When K. Rajasri of Koyyuru called up the Collector from King George Hospital to complain that treatment to her father was stopped midway Mr. Seshadri instructed the Superintendent of KGH to provide treatment without delay.

General Manager of BSNL P. Nagaraju, District Revenue Officer M. Venkateswara Rao, CEO of ZPP D.V. Reddy and other officials were present during the programme.

In the Prajavani (weekly public grievances redressal programme) the Collector had personally received petitions from people and asked the officials concerned to follow up the complaints. He told the officials to solve the problems without delay.
