Alleging kickbacks in the issue of GO 135 that allows sale of power by four gas-based companies, TDP leader Mr. K. Yerran Naidu said Chief Minister Mr. K. Rosaiah should call for an all-party meeting or place files before the Opposition leaders to prove transparency in the order.
At a press conference here on Friday, he said the GO was issued in lieu of kickbacks received in the past and it caused crores of rupees of loss to the exchequer. It was deplorable that the GO was issued at a time when power was purchased spending Rs.6,000 crores in 2008-09 at Rs.7 a unit and the State was still seeking more power from the Centre to meet its demand.
Taking exception to Mr. Rosaiah stating that a decision taken during Mr. Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy tenure was implemented, he wondered whether decisions that would cause loss to the exchequer would be ratified. Hence the government should prove its honesty and maintain transparency in the issue of GO 35.
People of the State were paying the price for the political uncertainty in the Congress, Mr. Naidu felt adding only when the Cabinet worked collectively the administration would measure up to the task on hand. Ministers were doing the rounds of Kadapa MP Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s house and that of Advisor to the State Government Mr. K.V.P. Ramachandra Rao. The Municipal Administration Minister or the Revenue Minister had not visited Kurnool that was still grappling with five to six ft slush. While it was for the Congress to decide what it wanted to do (on the issue), the TDP was only concerned about issues that related to people’s well-being, he said.
MLA Mr. V. Ramakrishna Babu said the district unit would hand over Rs.10 lakhs towards flood relief to NTR Trust and leave with the relief material collected to the flood-affected areas next week.
Party leaders Mr. Sundaram Patrudu, Mr. Anajaneya Raju, Mr. Kona Tata Rao and Mr. Potanna Reddy were present.
