GITAM plans cleanup campaign in villages

Swachh Bharat is not a one-time cleanup event but a committed continuous affair and one has to wholeheartedly participate in it, GITAM University founder and president M.V.V.S. Murthy has said.

Participating in a cleanup campaign taken up by the university students and academic and non-academic staff as part of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan at Rushikonda here on Tuesday, Mr. Murthy said the university NSS volunteers and faculty would promote the Central government’s campaign in villages.

GITAM president, accompanied by Vice-Chancellor G. Subrahmanyam, pro Vice-Chancellor D. Harinarayana, registrar M. Potharaju, GITAM secretary B.V. Mohana Rao, treasurer B.S.S.N. Raju, and 500 students, teaching and non-teaching staff participated in the programme and created a clean atmosphere near Rushikonda tourist spots, marine police station area, and beach surroundings.
