GITAM Foundation award for C.N.R. Rao

Bharat Ratna Chintamani Nagesa Ramachandra Rao (CNR Rao) will be given the annual GITAM Foundation Award at the 36th Foundation Day of the institution on Saturday.

An authority in solid-state and structural chemistry, Prof. C.N.R. Rao has published over 1630 research papers and penned or edited over 50 books.

An honorary doctorate from 60 universities, Prof. Rao is recipient of Padma Vibhushan and Padma Shri. He is currently the National Research Professor, Linus Pauling Research Professor and Honorary President of the Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research, Bangalore.

Will deliver endowment lecture

Prof. Rao will also deliver the endowment lecture, as part of the foundation day celebrations, Vice-Chancellor of GITAM University M.S. Prasada Rao said.

The foundation award will be bestowed upon him by president of GITAM University M.V.V.S. Murthi.

The award contains a cash component of Rs. 10 lakh and a citation.
